Product Description A sealed enclosure with 4.5" woofer & 3/4" dome tweeter / 90° swiveling mounting bracket / Two speakers included per carton
Amazon.com Product Description Want to take great Polk Audio speaker sound outdoors? Check out the indoor/outdoor 80-watt Atrium 45s. The stainless steel and brass hardware is completely rustproof, as are the aluminum brackets that allow multiple mounting options and full 90-degree rotation: aim them to deliver the best possible sound in a variety of locations. The rustproof aluminum grilles have 55 percent open area for superior sound quality. Most importantly, the Atrium 45s rugged, weatherproof, design meets or exceeds several military specifications for water, wind, salt, and corrosion. Inside the completely sealed enclosure is a 4.5-inch Dynamic Balance mineral-filled polymer driver with butyl rubber suspension for pumping out amazing bass, while its .75-inch soft dome tweeter with neodymium magnet broadly distributes high frequencies to cover a large area with high fidelity sound. Polk's Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain. The sound is always clean, clear, and effortless. The sculpted front baffle and rounded enclosure minimizes diffraction (sound reflecting off of hard edges) for more open and lifelike imaging. Connect them to an amplifier or receiver using the set's gold-plated five-way speaker-level binding posts. The Atrium 45s are also voice-matched to Polk's RTi speakers, and therefore make great surrounds in a complete Polk home theater system with the ability to handle up to 80 watts per channel. What's in the Box Pair, Atrium 45 speakers (black), mounting brackets, manual, 2-year parts and labor warranty.

Exceeded my high expectations August 21, 2010 Canon man I bought these to install inside an outdoor BBQ grill island and they are great. Here's my list of pro's and con's.
Pros
- They sound fantastic. Bass is pretty decent, and overall sound is really nice.
- Completely weatherproof
- Good looking
- They came with mounting gear
- Not too large or heavy
- They need very little power. I'm powering them with a little 2 x 75watt channel amp and they are plenty loud.
Cons
- They scratch up really easy. Be very careful with them with laying them down or installing them. Simply putting them on a hard surface like concrete will scratch them.
- Although they came with mounts they do not come with screws. This is probably because they don't know if you want to put them in wood or cement but I still wish they would have given me something.
This isn't really a con but for my uses in the bar they aren't quite perfect. I wanted to install them inside the walls of the bar but they don't have any truly flat surfaces so I can't mount them flush. Even the bottom which looks flat in pictures is actually at a small angle. Instead we hung them under the bar counter with the provided mounting gear which works fine. Overall I'm very happy with the look and the quality of the sound. We have a big backyard and they do a good job of filling it up with music.
A Lot of Speaker for a Little Price August 12, 2010 AT (Boston, MA) I bought a pair of these Polk Atrium 45 to replace an aging set of outdoor speakers that we use out on our back deck. The reviews were generally excellent, so I expected a good product. I was not disappointed.
The construction quality is compact, heavy, and attractive. The mounting hardware is simple and effective. No cheap "made in China" feel to these speakers or mounting hardware. It is extremely easy to mount the brackets, just drive two screws for each. And the speakers are very easy to mount and dismount from the brackets once they are up. They swivel a full 180 degrees, and can go either vertical or horizontal. You can tighten down the side nuts holding the speakers as much as you want, so if mounted horizontally the speakers can still be directed at any angle without drooping.
The sound quality is great. Our back yard is about 2000sq feet, with about 2-300sq ft of deck area. The sound is plenty adequate for this space. While difficult to appreciate the full nuance of any sound system when listening outside, I can say the sound quality is just fine. We've all heard plenty of speakers that sound boxy or muddy, or even resonant when over-driven at high volume. Again, this is outside, so some audiophiles might protest. But to my ear these speakers provide clean and clear sound throughout their range. Very satisfied with the sound quality.
I cannot yet say how robust these will be over time as they are exposed to the elements. Judging from the construction and specifications, I have every reason to expect they will perform at least as well or probably better than other competing products. But time will tell.
For about a hundred bucks you really cannot expect more. This is a great product and I'd buy them again without hesitation. As always, Amazon shipped immediately following my order, and I had my speakers two days later.
Five stars.
Great Value, Great Sound. July 22, 2010 thomasx11 I'm very impressed with these speakers. They have a very nice sound. Great for getting music out to your deck or pool area. Don't expect filling-rumbling bass from any speakers this size, but they just sound great... especially for the price... great dispersion and imaging. I mounted them on the wall before even listening to them and breathed a sigh of relief after powering them up. It's so nice to have music out back.
Great Speakers ! July 7, 2010 Nic Cherches (Scottsdale, AZ) These sound great and look just as nice! I have only had them for about 2 months but they still sound wonderful! Would recommend to ANYONE!
Great Outdoor Speakers June 20, 2010 Scott D. Bateman (Houston, TX) Used with a small Pyle amp and they sound great outside - nice and loud.
